My Story

I love my life.
I love everything about it. I love my husband, my home, my family, my job(s), my dog, my friends, my team, my Creator, and my Self. Yes, I love myself.

It wasn’t always that way. In fact, I didn’t even like myself ~ much less ‘love’ myself for half of my life.

Then one day, it hit me… how was I supposed to expect anyone else to love me if I didn’t love myself?
Did I even know how???

That day changed everything… Starting with taking responsibility for my happiness and making peace with my choices – all the sucky ones… all the harmful ones ~ and a deep commitment to doing better than I’d done before. A deep commitment to finding out just who exactly Edie Allen IS and to discover what was worth keeping, and what was worth letting go. I committed to doing the work, whatever it would take, to learn to love myself.

That’s when things began to change. BIG TIME. And I went from just getting by, and just trying to survive, to actually thriving and then soaring into my dream life.

A lifetime of helping others has given me some pretty useful tools to help myself…along with some excellent therapy from unconventional therapists…thousands of hours of soul exploration, past life regressions, hundreds of books, several dozen notebooks full of journaling, 8 certifications, and a couple of degrees.

Mostly I learned from you.

Everyone who has ever come to me for a session (and that’s nearly 20 thousand of you now) has been my teacher. And I value those lessons. They have cultivated a person I’m proud of today.

Around 1989 a doctor mis-diagnosed me as manic depressive and did her best to convince me I needed lithium, even though while taking it I gained a significant and unhealthy amount of weight and lost all my spirit. I was a walking zombie. She, a leading psychiatrist who always seemed miserable, actually said these words to me : “Edie, You’re very sick – one of the sickest people I’ve ever seen! The best you can hope for is to find a job you like and work as hard as you can to go on vacation once a year like I do with my family.” I asked “do you really believe that? ” And her response was “Yes, I do. It’s my professional opinion that you will be on medication for the rest of your life and you need to accept that and make the best of it.”

I was 25 years old!

Wow. I left her office thinking, “this lady doesn’t know me. She doesn’t care about me, and she certainly has No idea what I’m capable of.”

Soon after, I enrolled in a study for PTSD at the Medical University of South Carolina. There it was. An answer to my symptoms. I was and had been suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. No amount of lithium would ever help me. In fact, it was poisoning me and the reason why I was so sick in the first place. I was never properly diagnosed, and therefore, not being properly treated. I carefully and mindfully weaned myself off the lithium she ‘life sentenced’ me to, and I never looked back.

So I set about to learn all about PTSD and how to heal from it. I studied with some amazing healers and teachers… Teachers such as Wayne Dyer, Esther Hicks (Abraham), Rev. Michael Beckwith, Kyle Cease, Echart Tolle, Dr. Brian Weiss, Byron Katie, Dr. Masuru Emoto, Bo Eason and Mike Dooley. I’ve had the great priveledge and honor of studying and spending time with each of these incredible teachers and came to know that with the proper tools and guidance of people who actually care about me and my wellness, healing is possible.

So I healed.
And you can do the same.
My joy is in sharing with you all I’ve learned about self-love, self-care and healing. To offer you tools to fill your toolbox so you can heal, and thrive, and dance your happy dance with love in your heart and freedom in your Soul. To live and soar into your dreams and destiny being the best you possible. And who knows, Perhaps you’ll share your own tools with others one day.
Healing.
Happiness.
Freedom.
Abundance.
Love.
It all starts with making the choice to say
Yes to You.

My Work

Did you know that each emotional wound is rooted in stuff that just isn’t true? Until we remove the root, the wound lives and grows, and damages our lives. Often times it damages those we love as well. When we identify the wounds and pull out the roots, then love can grow. Until we identify the harmful core beliefs and shift them into beliefs more aligned with who we really are, nothing changes and our lives play out in patterns that are painful, and often destructive. We find ourselves stagnant. Stuck. Lifeless. Repeating Old Patterns again and again. Sound familiar?

Because of my extensive training in all things therapeutic as well as my unique qualifications of personal experience, the work we do together can be faster than most forms of healing. Yes change takes time. But we go deep and we go fast. We don’t hang around in the story. We shift and expand. I’ve found that the more open and willing you are, the faster you will heal. Often times, one session is all that’s needed to transform and evolve you.

Our Sessions

In our sessions I ask that you have a journal or notebook and a pen. For in-person sessions, It is often helpful to charge your phone ahead of time so that you may record the sessions for future listening. I will also be giving ‘homework’ and your commitment to your own process is the only requirement. Often times homework gets delayed due to one thing or another, and sometimes it’s because you’re on the verge of a breakthrough. We will discover together, what you need to experience the life you’re wanting for yourself.

After a session, you should have more clarity, energy and insight.

With consistent sessions, we begin building a momentum for the life of your dreams! Your relationships will improve along with your health, bank account and outlook on life. You will feel more empowered and in control of your choices and enthusiastic about the changes taking place. Other’s often begin mentioning the shifts they see in you as your happiness begins to emerge.

Call me for a complimentary session ( around 20 mins) to discuss becoming a client and working together for your healing process and life coaching. We can tailor a program to suit your needs and schedule. Feel free to ask me any questions about the process and modalities I will be using.

Sessions are available in person at my Charleston location, on the phone, or with skype and google hangouts. Distant sessions are equally effective and impactful as energy – like love – knows no bounds.
